The problem is this:
Went to start the beast this morning and it doesn't want to play. It had started and run perfectly the day before
Dash lights all ok, turn the key, nothing.
Battery full of juice 12.54V to be precise.
When key is turned, there are a couple of clicks from inside the dash (presume relays), but nothing from the starter.

My thoughts are this:
1) broken connection somewhere.
2) knackered starter (please God, not that)
3) Immobiliser stuck on.

The third one causes me concern, as I have never used the alarm/key pad to lock the car, hence not set the immobiliser? Can they be by-passed/done away with?

Any theories or solutions, either post or PM me.
Ta in anticipation,

LSP

Check the small cable onto the starter motor is good, the connection is tight and finally smack the starter motor with something big and heavy

I second ChrisW's post - precisely your symptoms, car started on the button everytime, pop to the shops, get back to the car & dead as a door nail - all solved by cleaning the connection.

THanks for the tips guys. I'll go with the consensus of opinions of Starter and Imobiliser.
Whatever happens, it won't be done today. Too cold and wet and at work by 1pm.
I'll let you know the result when it is done

Touchwood, we have success! A loose wire on the starter solenoid. What a beggar to get to though.
Double jointed fingers and wrists are needed to clip the terminal back onto the spade on the solenoid.
Cheers for the help, folks
Jon
