Modifying a Freelander
« on: November 01, 2004, 16:29:09 »
Would anyone know who makes a steering guard for Freelanders? Also as I keep bashing the silcencer, would it be best to just remove it or is there an exhaust system that has a lower profile?
Cheers
Esther

I'd just say that all of it is essential

Must say though there's some gear out there to fit a Freelander, mind you SD did supply and kit out the Camel Freelanders and more recently the G4 editions.

Happy spending  :D

Think this was covered in LRO recently, or one of the other comics.

If anybodies interested....

Have got (well my brother has, but it's in my unit!) a camel trophy spec freelander A-bar (with sump guard) for sale as per the one on the safety devices site (previous post)... he bought it to go on his Freelander... but then decided to sell his Freelander - and has bought a 200Tdi Disco instead.

He's after somewhere close to the £250 he paid... though it's missing the aluminium skid plate (nothing complex) but open to offers as I would like it out of the way.

Is the A bar aluminium coloured or black? Would be very interested.

The A-bar is aluminium coloured.... in all honesty could do with a repaint or touch up... don't think the original paint was too good...

Doesn't look like it's ever been on a vehicle though... just chipped paint from being transported around (no dents etc)

It looks identical to the one on the safety devices site (see pic below) - only difference is it doesn't have the rectangular section for the Land Rover badge.

You have yourself a buyer! How much and where do you want to meet? I live in Gloucester and am preprared to travel.  Do you have the fixings to fit onto the vehicle? If not, I could probably get some it's not a difficult job - for hubby
I will pm you my mobile no.
Cheers

If there are no fixings with the A Frame, it's going to be really difficult to do. Fixings included would clinch the deal.

Esther,

Sorry in the delay in getting back to you (been a bit busy of late due to personal reasons)......

When my brother bought the A-bar, it didn't come with the fittings... I think that the plan was (that I?) made up the fittings as needed.
However, as my brothers Freelander is soon to be no more, this is unlikely to happen.

Phoned Safety Devices this morning, who make the A-bar, and I can buy the necessary fitting kit for  Ã‚£50 + vat and carriage, so looking at around £65.00 (may be able get a slight discount) – will take up to two weeks to be delivered though.

If you still wanted the A-bar, and I ordered the fittings, then it'll be about £290 all in.

Sorry again in the delay,

Ian
