Looks like the local weekly news paper "The Grantham Journal" have joined the anti 4x4 bandwagon.
Fuelled by the rantings of the chairman of the local Ramblers group, they are again blaming quad bike's, motocross, and 4x4 users for carving huge rutts in footpaths in the Grantham area.
Then the author goes onto say that a 9 mile stretch of the Viking Way between Saltby and Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir has been destroyed by motorised vehicles. If he had done his homework he would see that the Viking Way does not pass through Saltby, only near it.The local Ramblers group claim they walk this stretch fairly regulary and now these paths are unusable due to the mud, I would like to know how regular is "we walk these fairly regular".Or maybe they are sick of getting no response from the local council, and decided to contact local rag. Also over Xmas we used the strech they are talking about, and the rutts could only have been made by agricultural vehicles, infact we turned around so as not to cause anymore damage, though no one comments on the sensible 4x4 users
Then a local resident claims that it has been ruined for cyclists, riders, and walkers, and get this it has been ruined by the one group who are not supposed to use it :? :?
Just goes to show what people who have not got a clue what they are talking about, will say when fuelled by hear say. They are welcoming feedback, so I guess plenty of MC members have travelled the Viking Way, so it would be good for a response from 4x4 users.
