No,not the cars, the roads!
I looked on wetroads the other day and found that one of the best ones is just down the road from where i work. so today after work i went for a look. thank god i have a snorkle now or i think i would be stranded. Its not the river crossing the road, the river is the road! the only warning was the standard ford sign and no warning of the depth. tomtom would take you down there too!
this ford is in wookey near wells in somerset. i am on the pda at the mo but will try to post pics from here. the pics should work, i have a vid too, i will post that when i get home.

Barnhill
Where's that one?
Looks good!!

My understanding is that Bakewell is now closed, proved that it was not a BOAT. Have a look at the Forum on the Wetroads website.

i know that one very well baz g. just up the road from me (live in petersfield) thats the one im talking about to go through STRAIGHT after Slab common or broxhead common (2 mins away from that ford) to wash all the sand off.
its also usually my stomping ground after lots of rain , like to pull people out who get stuck - and make a few bob!

If you listen to the vid you can hear the v8 exhaust note for a while, then its gets deep and the exhaust goes quiet!
It is pretty deep for a ford on a public road with no real indication of how deep it is!

Just out of interest I am intrigued to know why you were relieved to have a snorkel? How far over the bonnet did the water go? I've had water over the bonnet of my TDI Disco and V8 RRC and they were both as happy as larry.

Is the intake on a V8 Disco low then?

I have had a lot of trouble with my v8 on gas conking out when it sniffs water, As soon as there is a splash of water on the intake it would cut out, now the snorkle is fitted it seems to like water a little more.

Must have fixed a problem for you then.

I think I was still on gas when I went deep but V8's are fussy so and so's! And being a RRC I think the intake is higher.

Usually if it cut out in water I would just switch to petrol and it would be better but now I run purely on LPG as the fuel pump is out of action so I need to be a little more careful!

been down today for a quick look and there is a new sign saying it is an offence to cross with mechanically propelled vehicle, but there are still tracks coming out of the water
A while back, we went down, as we like to walk round and feed the ducks and trout, and as we were in RR we got a local telling us he would ring the police if we drove through as it was being argued as a ROW.  As we had just parked up and had a bag of 2 day old Hovis in hand did they think we were going to walk it?
(Even tho I have walked it   )
