200tdi dash question ?
« on: February 01, 2007, 14:46:27 »
I have a set of gauges which I would like to fit in the top centre area of the dash .
Does anybody know if the space behind this area is a void ?
I have removed the panel under the steering and also the glove box and there is no access to to the centre area .
If there is a space behind this area , is there a way to route cable to it from under the bonnet ?

It's not I'm afraid, that's where the top end of the heater sits,  you might have some success, but ISTR it being reasonably short of space around there... as for running cables up to it, well, rather you than me

You might have better luck on the raised area towards the screen but its very tight under there

Better off buying a enclosure box from maplins and cutting the back out of it to match the profile of the dash. Then mounting the gauges in the lid of the box. That way you can get easy access to the gauges if you need to change them at any time and it's easier to get the wiring in place. They do the boxes in steel or black or grey plastic.

Yeah , that's the area I meant , sorry if I didn't explain it better .
I just rested them where the mat had been for the picture , but for fitting I would be hoping to move them back so they are inset in the dash behind there .
I've heard the heater is in the area below.
