ok this is probably a common problem,2nd gear is hard to select when cold fine when warm,is a major fault about to occur or do i need to change the oil,what is the best oil? r380 box in defender 300 tdi,thanks i know some of you clever chaps out there will help!!!!!!!1

my second gear synchro has worn in my road going 300 DEF 90. pisses me right off. just got to change up slowly. 2nd is always the first to go on the R380's.

ATF in gearboxes. red stuff. same as pwr steering fluid. EP80/90 in your transfer box, axles and CVs. think the boxes take about 4ltrs. off hand not sure.

our 2nd synchro is dead too. sound wicked when you hammer past chavs and crunch the [!Expletive Deleted!] out of it ;)
