200 TDI with no cooling fan?
« on: February 11, 2007, 09:52:00 »
Currently looking at a 200Tdi engine but it is in a Rangie with no cooling fan.  It can’t have an electric fan in front as it still has the aircon rads in it!  Do the 200Tdi's run cool so they don't all have fans?

Does the belt run the water pump? It does on VW caddy at work.

(Not familiar with the 200 engine, mine V8 )

The fan belt does drive the water pump; that would certianly start ity overheating.

The airconn should have fans to cool the engine if it gets too hot, it certainly does on a V8 but these are meant to suppliment the viscous unit.  Can you not fit an electric?

I am looking to buy it at the moment but I thought I would ask.  I don't like being uncertain so I would more than likely fit an electric if I do get it.  What type of fan should I look for?

Vauxhall cavalier, fits nicely behind a TDI rad and almost completely covers it, shifts a huge amount of air as well....loads in Scrappies for obvious reasons :)

Cheers Steve

Citreon bx for the same reasons as above but also got hugr elec motors fitted as well always used these fans

but saying that any elec fan from the scrappy will probably do

and then from the chavs local hot up shop an after market adjustable fan switch

can not remember the make at the mo..(someone will be along in a min and tell :D )

all the wiring you need job done
