I planted 2 trees 8) (but I didnt hug them  )Steve
There was an e-mail from a viewer of BBC Breakfast the other morning. The viewer was boasting about his carbon footprint...... His wife drove a Prius (!!!) and got 50mpg out of it....... err, is that all??? Most small cars do 40mpg anyway. And they don't have banks of batteries manufactured and to be disposed of in 5 years time. And the best bit...... he drove an electric car that produced zero carbon emissions  Err, really???! Why isn't he the richest man in the world? He must have invented a perpetual motion machine. It appears there *are* people gullible enough to believe this drivel.

And they don't have banks of batteries manufactured and to be disposed of in 5 years Erm I work for Toyota, and I can promise you the prius doesnt have a five year battery life. The warranty on the prius was extended from 3, to 5 years(unlike the rest of the toyota range), but the Battery on board has a life span which so far is proving to be indefinite. It has no preset life span, and in the event of a failure, or a written off car etc, the battery is returned to Toyota Gb where its recycled. It is a damn good idea, its not a small car, its a fully equipped large car capable of carrying five adults and luggage etc
Zero emissions? Where does this bloke think the electricity comes from? It's produced at coal or gas fired power stations All he's doing is moving the emissions to somewhere else.

How does it perform off road
takes no account whatsoever of the fact that my V8 110 is 21 years old and therefore I have saved a huge amount of emissions by not changing the car for a new one every three years as a lot of people do I could leave it running 24/7 and it still wouldnt catch up - except I couldn't afford the petrol to do this !
They don't have an option for the Series IIA land Rover. So i guess i'm carbon nuetral then
They dont have the option for a defender 90 hard top either :(
I like the 'if you took public transport......' bit. Particularly the 'up to.....' part.I assume that means it is likely to increase your carbon footprint in most circumstances because the bus or train only has three passengers on it  And of course, there is the 7 mile taxi journey (each way, so 28 miles assuming I want to go home again!) to get me to the nearest railway station or bus route
How is it that if i take my 4x4 it is 5.41kg and the bus is 5.01kgBut if i take the car its 2.32kg and the bus is now 1.92kg How does the bus change :? :? :? So if i walked the bus would not run.I dont get it
It recons if I run a 1.3 petrol Jimny on Biodiesel I will save on emissions.
