tyres and modulars

I was checking the tyres today, and instead of replacing the odd one or two, i was thinking of a set of modulars and tyres, where can i get a decent set , and what sort of tyres sizes can i go for,

its a 3 dr 300 tdi disco

Hi,  I am in the process of doing the same.

My Disco 200 is Standard (No lift)

I have decided on a set of 7x16 Modulars ( Nice offset) (£100 Eblag)

and a set of 4 Recip Trials  235/70/16 (£207) (Direct Tyres)

What tyres are you looking at?

Make sure the modulars and tyres you get FIT before buying.

I learnt the hard and expensive way.  :oops:

Should have new tyres on by mid week will post piccy  8)

well m-m does modulars for 35 each

and ive found a tyres for 34 each


what do you mean make sure the modulars fit

I bought a nice set of BFG 265/75/16 Mud Terrain   :shock:

Fitted them and found that due to the tyre size and the 30mm offset on the Modulars I couldn't turn corners and no chance of articulation.   :sobsob:

Mods are pretty cheap if you shop about - cash offers without postage charges sometimes works wonders and saves a lot of messing about.

i must agree that nene valley are great. very helpful. get plenty of offset if you want to run larger tyres.

What's the deal with Modulars & offset? - Are there a range of different offsets available?

They have about 1" more offset than standard wheels.

Good news is that the extra offset means you can fit bigger tyres without loosing steering lock. Bad news is that clearance will be tighter.

You can get Modulars from Paddocks for about £30 each (£25 + VAT), buy more than £50 on-line and you get free carriage.

I got my tyres from them too 245/75R16 BFG Mud Terrains for £99 + VAT each.

The picture shows them before my lift, I did a Camel Cut but it still caught the arch due to the standard "Disco leaning to the right syndrome".  All cured now thanks 2"+ springs from Scorpion Racing.

Be very careful if you go for 8x16 modulars, they seem to be mostly available with a +20mm offset, which means there's an awful lot of wheel 'inside' the hub if you get what i mean.. i'm waiting for Bronco to get some -5mm ones in, then i might finally be able to fit the tryes i've had in the garage for 2 months......

Nene valley (as recommended above) took over 5 months top complete an order and when the fith tyre did turn up it was illegal for road use.  Lots of promises on the way that turned to bull.

Beware of this company.

A mate got a set of mods with 31" KL71s for £415 from nene valley recently with no probs.

ive delt with nene valley 4 or 5 times and would go there again very helpfull and not bad prices very good service
