« on: February 17, 2007, 20:48:24 »
im not a happy bunny. really not happy. here's what happened today.

this morning we put William in the back of the puma , viks in the passenger seat and off we went. we went looking at freelanders for viks around the garages of Hampshire. when we got up to the cowplain area of Hampshire we decided to cut across country to west end Southampton, and as such headed for east meon. we were heading down a Hampshire country road when we came up behind a old rover 214 being driven at about 30mpg by an old fella. we slowed down and waited for a clear bit of road ....but we didn't need to as he indicated and moved right over to let us through.....

i looked in the rear view mirror and there was a p reg jeep behind us that as i indicated to move out so did he.....so i was overtaking the rover and the jeep decided he would use his size to intimidate me..   he indicated have gotten any closer without touching us. so i put my boot down to pull away from him. this is the point i realized it was a petrol jeep as he stayed with me and came up on the outside and tried to over take on a blind bend.... but in doing so was pushing us into the bank on the inside,,,,,,i am under no illusions that he did this on purpose....

at the point of being in the bank i hit my horn and brakes at the same time. he pulled in front of me and slammed his brakes on...an emergency stop....... we had nowhere to go as he was blocking the whole road.... at this point i was considering getting out , but it was viks that stopped me as she and william were in a right state........ i then couldnt believe my eyes.... he had slammed the jeep into reverse and was coming back at us fast

i put the puma in reverse and bolted backwards too.....he then took off at a great rate of notts........it was at this point that i realized that we didnt have a reg number,,,,,, so we then took off to try and catch him to get his number.....on rounding another corner the jeep was in reverse again aiming to take us out again     .. this bloke really had it in for us thats for sure.....

but we managed to get his number. we called the police straight away but as of yet we have not heard from them. i honestly dont know what provoked this guy to start behaving like that. he is gonna kill someone one day.....and not to mention the fact that it is a 4x4 he was driving. i do have his number plate now but feel powerless to do anything as i have no idea where to start....

i was left with provoked and viks well shaken up by this..... so our saturday was well and truely ruined ....

i know it isnt right but i wish i could find out where he lived and intimidate him with my front bumper......
cheers

It seems to be the thing nowadays, not had one as bad as that lately but its funny how someone does something stupid, you beep at them and then they gesticulate at you as if you were the one in the wrong!

Contact the police and go loopy at them for not investigating it, you have witnesses (i.e. viks) was he alone in the car?

Why not post up his number, someone will have access to dvla records, find out where he lives and put nails under the front and rear of all his tyres.... so when he moves, either way he gets 4 flats!!

Some people are beyond belief......
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

Always fun on this forum and great that landy owners jump up to help one another...but take this following tale as something to consider...

The following tale is completely hypothetical and never happened of course :)

My hypothetical statement to the police officer after almost being involved in a hypothetical accident and witnessing 4 cars hypothetically written off.....

Well officer, i was driving along the high street atat the prescribed legal limit when a complete lunatic raced out of a side road without stopping, wheelspinning and driving like a lunatic. Had i not emergency stopped he would have definately written my vehicle off injuring myself, my wife and my son.I recognise the driver he is a local 21 year old yob, no doubt trying to impress his 14 year old girlfriend and her 6 friends who were all in the car.
I ignored him as he raced away but imagine my surprise when not 2 minutes later i pulled up behind him at a narrow single track bridge with traffic lights on red. I proceeded to get out of my car and strode forward with the intention of asking his name and details so i could report him for dangerous driving, not wishing to get involved in any altercation.#
I was amazed when as i approached he pulled around the car infront, ran the red light and wrote off 4 cars coming legally across the bridge almost running over several pedestrians in the process..............

Had i posted this on here doubtless many would have agreed what a to**er, you were lucky he didnt hit you and agreed how dangerous he was acting, saying whats his number we'll keep an eye out... etc etc..

Hypothetically the above is very close to the truth but hypothetically I may not have got out to ask his name :)

But imagine the shoe was on the other foot and he had posted his 'version'

I accidentally cut someone up, i waved to apologise but the madman chased me down, i was terrified because my partner was in the car and when i arrived at a red light the maniac leapt out brandishing a weapon, i was too scared to see what it was but had no choice but to run the light , terrified for my life.......

Hypothetically he was a regular at this sort of driving practice and went down for 6 months and ordered to retake his test but to every story there can be two distictly different versions and vigilante justice may well backfire with all the good intentions in the world........

I remember a high profile bullying arguement at a local school, child disturbed and scared parents and friends ranting and raving...fortunately the bully had been intelligent enough to save all the abusive emails and texts from the so called victim..... :O

again two versions of the same events...

Cheers Steve

You are quite oblivious to the remarks made initially.
It is plain to see that trauma has occured.
I do not wish to proceed further, it will only cause the topic to be locked.

ATT......

I think you'll find trauma can be a two way thing.... it is hard to judge with one side of events

another example..

Spent a lot of time working with a mortar locating team in Bosnia, lots of civilians ...women children etc were killed, the local ethnic group wre up in arms, we had to find these Serbs and render them unable to carry out more attacks. I was horrified at some of the attacks, babies a few months old in bits strewn across the local market place.... Serbs denying it all...yeah right

Truth was we eventually tracked down the assailants, it was the local muslims killing their own in order to try and make the Serbs look like murderers

It was a no win situation, with both sides constantly claiming to be the victims....

Do you therefore think we should have administered a swift bit of vigilante justice with a 5.56 having taken one version of events or perhaps we were correct to fully investigate....in the end its seems both sides had trauma caused....

If you think of trauma as a two way thing....You have lost, you have lost the aggression, you have lost your true aim....You are dead.

It is for that reason alone that we find ourselves in the mess that we are in, in this country.
Do-gooding, liberal pinkies and politically correct thickos have made this country a shadow of it`s former self.

Tell that to Bush and Blair and see what the answer is.

LMAO

If you honestly beleive vigilante justice is the way to get this country on its feet then it saddens me

I know trauma is a two way thing, I've witnessed both sides of every arguement in most war zones in the last 17 years...

Lost my aggresion.....certainly not, I can however channel it and apply a balanced view...agression is something inescapable in my line of work...however it must be channeled and measured or people die unecessarily

Admittidly I followed him trying to get the Reg Plate and I know How you feel on that score ..
But, no-one got Hurt at the end of the day and that's something to be happy about Den! Glad you're all ok

As I often say to my pupils, "now you see why I drive a Range Rover".

They guy was obvioulsy short in thre wedding tackle department, something to prove and the little blue pills are getting expensive.  To add to his dissapointment he bought a cheep

Chalk it up to experience, there are some nobheads out there who spoil it for the rest of us, I'd love to take the RS out for a spin but I have kittens whenever it's out in the open, I'll become one of those people I hate who trailer their cars to shows and never drive them.

If you have a number, contact the scuffers, I hope for your sake they will be as proactive as ours are, one 'phone call with a reg number and they are round there laying down the law, 2 complaints and they start taking action to seize the car, IIRC once they've had a complaint they only need to see it for themselves once, no warning, "keys, NOW".

Den, this sounds really familar.

Towards end of last year me and Rich went with his dad up to Alton and fanbourgh to collect there St Johns Unit.

had a very similar Jeep acting very stupid and over taking on blind bends and going all over the place. being in a 110 ambulance a chase wasnt gonna happen.

glad your all alright tho. hope you hear something in return.
