nope, need a r380 long stick gear box,
different props, change the engine/ gearbox mounts, seat box, transmission tunnle, the whole lot basicaly

easier to fit the better 200tdi in, as thats a straight swap
and funnily enough ino where theres a minted 200tdi going up for sale shortely   with a new pump and turbo and is going for next to nuffing for a gen defender engine
drop redlinemike a pm

Yes and no....

It can be made to fit with an Lt77 but....

Depends if you want an 'as factory' conversion so every part is avaliable 'off the shelf'....

Or you want to modify stuff to fit - which means if anything needs replacing in the future, you'd have to modify that as well?? (including water and oil pipework amoung others)

Don,t go down the route of putting a 300tdi on a lt77 gear box. You have that many problems been there do that never again. Buy a r380 box etc cheaper in long run.  It looks 100 times better as well.

200 tdi all the time easy and cheaper

As said, if you have a LT77 (push to the left and up to select reverse) you need to chop and reweld the engine mounts further back along the chasis rails.   I gather 300tdi's use the same chasis/mounting points as V8's rather than the old n/a, TD engines.  A 200tdi will drop straight in, though if poss get a defender unit rather than a disco as that opens up a whole new can of worms...
