Car designers go to a special school where they learn to make routine maintenance tasks as difficult as possible.

When I worked at Ford they used to take cars apart in the workshops, design special tools and write the technical manuals from first hand experience.  If it was too difficult then things got rediesigned.  It's a practice that seems to have been abandoned by many manufacturers :?
Blue,  1988  Range Rover 3.5 EFi with plenty of toys bolted on
Chuggaboom, 1995 Range Rover Classic
1995 Range Rover Classic Vogue LSE with 5 big sticks of Blackpool rock under the bonnet.
