I bet the driver of the trailer has some massive whip lash!
I'm referring to the ones who are incapable of driving and are causing serious accidents as a result. There are plenty of them in this area. The most recent one demolished a petrol pump at our local Texaco station. The one before that hit someone whilst he was standing at the back of his van by the side of the road - taking his legs off in the process. My friend's dad was killed by one conking out at the wheel and coming across the road straight into him. There have been several serious accidents on our local A-road due to elderly drivers collapsing at the wheel. I've witnessed an accident caused by one driving down the the wrong side of a dual carriageway. I met one in a local village trying to drive the wrong way up a one-way street whilst gesticulating angrily to me for blocking his way. I won't bore you with the full list, but in this area elderly drivers frequently make their presence known either through the newspapers after an accident, or simply whilst out and about. Based on what I have seen there are a lot of elderly motorists out there who are extremely dangerous and I repeat my comment about no one seeming to mention them in the same breath as road safety Are you one of those types of people? If not then I'm not referring to you.
How it happened? My guess is that he tipped the load, and drove off without securing the hydraulics. Down the road a bit, an elbow comes in contact with the lever..... The rest is easy enough to figure.

What amazes me is that he tore the body off the chassis, yet the gantry seems remarkably intact. A few years back in Spain something similar happened, the lorry was pretty much unscathed, but the gantry ended up horizontal on top of a car, killing a young lass.
