Grrr! Garages!
« on: February 26, 2007, 15:15:02 »
Disco went in to the garage last week to have some work done. Was told Saturday morning that all the parts were in and it'd be done by this afternoon. Just rung 'em, "The rest of the parts came in this morning, we'll have it done by tomorrow afternoon".

What fun being stuck 4 miles from the nearest village without a car.

Tell them it's not good enough, and that you have relied on their promise for this afternoon.

10% off the bill. They should have told you in good time. Insist on it. As a lawyer, I consider it perfectly reasonable to expect this.

Good luck...

I can definately sympathise with that!  Currently my rangie is off the road as of yesterday cos the autobox decided to die, then today the fiesta clutch went and of course our series 3 is off the road anyway til can find someone who can look at it without it costing the earth!

So definately understand!

There are 3 people I trust to work on my cars, 3

My mate over the road, does my MOTs

Mick at the local service station, known him for years and he is damn good but doesn't do much heavy stuff anymore.

And ME.

I got fed up with fixing other people's f*** ups so I figured I might as well do it right first time, less inconvenience and the money I save can go on tools.

Like a grand on Rovacom

Well with ours the series 3 now works, plans are afoot for the fiesta to get fixed and then slowly the rangie should get fixed!

Workmanship-wise it's a decent garage. Not the cheapest around, but don't try to con you by saying extra stuff needs doing. Used 'em a few times. Just annoying when they say they have everything in, then a couple of days later they say the "rest" of the stuff arrived!

Anyway, it's fixed now apparently. Tried to get over there to pick it up earlier, but couldn't get a lift in time. Ah well, will go and pick it up in the morning, time to see how big the bill is!

I might say in their defence though that my mate over the road is now onto the 3rd parts suplier in about 8 months, he got sick of the wrong stuff turning up all the time, if at all, and once you've promised a customer it just sounds like an excuse.

I avoid this by having lots of spares in my loft.
