Soundproofing a TD5
« on: February 26, 2007, 16:18:54 »
My TD5 90 may look like a CSW, but it doesn't sound like one...

There's no soundproofing on the inside of the bonnet, and so I'm left to put up with the minimal deadening from the carpet.

I've had a look at the noisekiller stuff, and they want about £110 (+ postage) for the under bonnet "package" - the stuff that sticks to the bonnet, and an engine blanket.

Is it worth it? I mean, just how much difference can I expect?

How much better would it be with the gearbox blanket as well? I'm planning on getting one of these once I've adjusted to the lower noise levels

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben,

I had their under bonnet kit on my Disco (D1). It definitely made a difference. Not sure it was worth the money as such cos it is a lot, but it did work. It might be worth asking them if they willl supply you only the sections that stick to the under side of the bonnet (at a cheaper price) as some of the kit was for the engine bay as well - including bits you couldn't get to with the engine in place (or I couldn't figure it out).
