Just sent Aunty Beeb a missive about bias and influencing votes ('polluting 4x4s').

Typical of the unthinking media

Get your votes in soon!

So what vehicle are we going to select?

If we all choose the same one, then it'll be guaranteed to come at the top!

How about Austin Allegro?

We know the anti's are all going to just type 4x4. I don't think there's any "group" of vehicles that we'd all agree on that could then topple the anti's.

I voted off the Toyota Prius.

Did a bit of googling and they aren't as green as they look!

Seems to me that the BBC have started this just to see how many people hate 4x4's, you can't really genralise another a group of vehicles on the road that you would like to 'ban'.  It's a hard one for me as I really don't mind most motorists, just detest boy racers and most drivers over 70 who plod along, there is nothing wrong with the majority of vehicles (be it type of vehicle, make, model, pollution output etc.) it's just the drivers that cause me aggro.  Good idea about everyone choosing the same model/make of car like the Allegro suggestion, could over run the antis who you know will just put 4x4

But why would I want to ban a (whatever) from the road?
They have as much right to get in my way as I do theirs, surely?

And here was me thinking that we were living in an elightened society which prided itself on it's civil freedoms, personal rights and freedom from bigotry, prejudice and hatred.

Or is it just the newspapers and happy tablets that made me think that?

I agree that all cars have the right to use the roads as long as they're driven correctly and courteously.... except the Austin Metro.

When i'm President of the People's Republic of Great Britain  , I will order all Metros, in any guise (be it Rover 100 or otherwise), to be crushed at the expense of their owners.

My entry :

None - as we all have a right to use the roads we pay our tax for. I cannot beleive you are going to try and state a certain type/make/model of vehicle does not have the right to use the roads. If this was applied to people it would be called racism.

I've replied

Quote

Which vehicle do you want to be voted off the road?
Oh please, yet another misinformed 'polluting 4x4's' comment.  Why can't you demonstrate some intelligence for once and do some research!
I vote that all the BBC Journo's who use 4x4's as a yardstick for congestion, pollution and crime get off the road.  You clearly ought to be walking with blinkers on!

Why have you nominated this particular vehicle?
Because I'm sick to death with the anti 4x4 bias and misinformed rubbish that emerges from the keyboards of you idiots.

My vote will be the Toyota Prius because it's production causes more greenhouse gases to be produced than many other cars and it is going to  be an ecological disaster  in a few years when it comes to scrapping it

And that was before I read the Mail report

If you're choosing a car choose Prius to beat the antis at their own game

i could vote for police cars      get them off the road and solving more crime rather than targeting the motorist

or the honda accord as they,re always driven by old people like the woman who tried to overtake me today as i waited patiently for the lorry coming the other way up the narrow street  there was no way we could pass so i stopped she had to reverse then to the back of the queue when she came face to face with the truck
