Yeah, I saw that program about it a few weeks ago.  Apparently we all have to take our cats off and remove any particulate filters as it's only the polution from our cars that's stopping a chain reaction that will result in the end of mankind.

Can't wait 'till next Thursday when we get to hear the truth about global warming.

anyway i thought cars put out carbon monoxide not carbon dioxide.

It depends on the combustion process.  Carbon and Hydrogen react with the constituents of air, mostly oxegen and Nitrogen isn't it?

Hydrogen oxidises to water, can't egt greaner than that can you :D .  thre's more Hydrogen in LPG which is why it steams a bit and keeps your engine clean.

Anyway, carbon oxidises to carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide, depending on a few things, like air/fuel ratio for one, combustion temp for another.  A rich mix results in more CO


The textbook I'm looking for has grown legs, so I can't go into more detail.
