TD5 clutch and box change
« on: March 03, 2007, 19:05:03 »
Right, as my gearbox and transfer box are knackered im going to swop them over, louckly ive got nearly all the bodywork off the vehicle at the mo as im doing a bit of panel 'modification'

I ll change the clutch for a HD one, but is there anything i should know before taking it all apart ? knowing how LR build things there is normally something to complecate things  :?

...also having never done a clutch before, how easy is it to do ? cant be that hard surely

Make sure you inspect the flywheel correctly too (check the surface face for cracks)!!!... they have a habit of cracking/fracturing and a lot of early Td5's (like yours) had them replaced under warranty.

If it was done, then the two bolts that hold the bonnet latch 'should' be painted.

To change the clutch isn't hard at all... all you need is a method of aligning the new one - and make you do the fixing bolts up correctly.

Or have a look on Ebay for a new flywheel if needed..... one of the Land Rover Dealers is selling them for £150.00
