If battery life isnt horribly important and you dont mind a bit of screwing about to get the OS update on it (which may be on it as shipped now) The N80 is a nice, bombproof phone with enough gadgetry to keep anyon happy. And its god a damm good camera on it too
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Nokia 5500 if you want a BOMBPROOF phone.

The follow up to the legendary 5140. Had my 5140i for several years now, subjected to farm abuse, student abuse, off road abuse and general life and its still 100%.
I will get a 5500 upgrade soon, but i may carry on using my 5140i. Only critism of 5140 is limited memory, a problem that the 5500 has sorted. Has a fair few features with it too, most of which are useful!

:D  :D Thanks for all the info fellas....I was absolutely amazed at the large number of different phones on the market...I only want a simple bomb proof phone that people can ring me on and I can ring them but it seems that I have to have a camera,MP3 player, radio and all the other electronic gadgetry that I'll never use....I much prefer the simple life...KISS (keep it simple stupid)....thanks again

I have had an XDA exec. for the last 10 months, not a bad phone but very big, heavy and complicated, might get a bigger SD card though and put memory map on it

:D  :D Thanks Barneyfarmer....I've looked at the specs of the Nokia 5500 sport and it advertises a lot of techno wizardry to do with sporting event results etc...what's your views on that....

hello Terry I have a 5500 sport, to be honest I dont use the sports mode (pedometer etc) or the mp3 player that much.

Its got a stainless body and is pretty much water proof, I beat it about in work and offroading etc. The screen has no scratches as yet which I was worried about despite having it covered in mud on numerous occasions.

I bought a 1GB card for it and have installed view ranger which works well with a bluetooth GPS.

Its easy to connect up to your PC with all the software and leads included.

The only thing I would like is slightly more battery power, it lasts me around 3-4 days although I dont turn it off.

hope this is of some use

Dom

If you dont want to be hassled with all the extras, go for the older 5140i.

I have broken two cases though cos i fiddle with it too much, but if the case gets damaged, whack a newun on!! Not sure if you can do that with the newun?

Its a good and simple phone. Not many extras, has a torch (very regular use under the landy or around farm), thermometer and a decibel meter tho!
