fitting diff guards to td5 defender rear axles
« on: March 15, 2007, 08:36:26 »
hi folks just a quick point noted whilst fitting a south down diff guard
to my vehicle but applies to any make, the studs that hold the diff to the axle case are not threaded into the axle case like earlier axles, but mushroom headed studs with a small splined section which in my case was quite easily knocked back allowing the stud to turn! not a major problem if you can get pliers or pry bar etc to pull the stud back into place
but has i didnt remove the diff i dont know if the stud could go all the way thru and drop into the axle case?

cheers kevin
the shinny blue defender with the winch, checker plate body protection, extra seating and windows
and at this point I noticed the n/s air vent wasnt fully closed so lets not forget the mud stained interior and the water logged kenwood 6disc cd
