Because they must make a profit, and secondly the maintenance costs are going up through lack of maintenance in the past I believe.

And yet my daughter recently got a return ticket from Leeds to County Durham for £28. There doesnt seem to be any sense to their pricing structure :(

me and the missus had to fetch a Range Rover from the docks at Newcastle a few years ago it cost us £160 on the train and £20 in fuel on the way back and the range rover was 4.0 petrol!!! :?  :?

I use the national express for that kind of thing now, it only costs me £16 to get from Cumbria to London compared to £120 on the train :D

I use car trailer and 5.0l V8 RRC LSE and it still doesn't cost me that much to drive both ways.

Including the t**t who drove into the trailer and bust me a tyre :evil:

I did consider (just for a millisecond) driving the zuke down and towing it back...... 268 miles in one hit in a sj410..... yeah that puts the £103 in perspective!

Could you not swing using the works tow truck? or that very nice amg u were in the other week? that would have made the trip down hell of a lot easier not to mention quicker! still it looks like a nice tidy truck.

I've recently used one way car hire to get to heathrow and back, it was half the price of a train and cleaner, more comfortable, quicker, door to door....

If you go online and book it in advance you can get silly prices on train fares Leeds to Torquay one way on the day £120 booked two weeks in advance £42.50

you have to book in advance, I did crewe to the other side of Glasgow for £8 last year, just book 7 days in advance
