Is it terminal?
« on: March 16, 2007, 17:32:42 »
Hi Guys. I have a 2.5 N/A Diesel in my 110.

The cambelt has just snapped on the way home. I would like to know if it is terminal, and if so what damage does it normally do.

If not, what are the normal parts to order.

Cheers All. :)

Does it not normally bend the valves.

Im wondering if its a good time to take the head off, and reseat all the valves and do the stem seals?

nope
at worst it will break a few rockers,at least it will bend a few pushrods

personally id get it sorted & get it back running rather than taking the head off for the sake of it

Well. I stripped it today, to find four bent pushrods. Very handy, as my mate had 8 in the shed. :)

Just got to get a belt now.

Right. So she is going again now. But it alot noisier. And smokes more.

I think its running better. Meaning more low end power. But as it revs up theres more noise and smoke.

Does the injector pump now need timing? Thats my thought. :?

If you can, I'd suggest getting the compression checked.

Bad timing normally means more smoke....

Well. Myself and a fellow mechanic freind have done it. We looked for the timing marks, and followed the instructions. But the marks on the flywheel are miles out.

In the end we moved the pump a bit to retard the fuel slightly.

All Sorted.

Cheers all for your help. :)
