RANT MODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

went out today to realise i'd forgotten my coat. ok nevermind ithought... pulled into shell for some diesel and keri notices we're an indicator lense missing... BUT the screws were still there.

"what the [!Expletive Deleted!]?" im stood there thinking. so off we go back home to get the coat and also check if the predicted was true - it was/is. some filthy little scrutter has smashed our lense off the back in the 30-45 minutes that it was actually parked on the road yesterday IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!

and then my mother wonders why we dont park on the road?! my dads 110 had awing mirror stolen within 24 hours of him owning it... P take? YEAH!

ok so off we go to matty's where he found us a lense, and then continued on to worksop as intended. despite being cut up by and nearly destroying a small number of nippy sports cars that feel its their right to nail it out from behind you and then cut you up trying to skip cars on those ridiculous occasions where a lane splits and then joins again, we eventually got there.

just because your car is shiny red, has a sparkly badge and says "V6" on the back ALONG WITH your expensive "V6 blah" personalised number plate DOES NOT mean that i give a flying toss.....

the guy infront of me wouldnt let her in, to which i celebrated with a few choice words, so the only option she was left with was trying to push her way through the side of our 110..... she tried it. foot down trying to squeeze in NOT TODAY! quite promptly booted it and left her on the wrong side of the road swearing..... i let her in eventually. made sure that everyone within a mile knew she was a complete [!Expletive Deleted!] moron though!

whatever... got to currys, finally sorted my laptop out, set off home. checked out a few little greenlanes on the way back and looked for a few geocaches with the dogs... found one of them (in the dark...) the other seemed to be missing. so that was fun, if you like that kind of thing... set off home again headingback to the main roads via some windy country things.

transit van, foot on the floor, blind corner. need i say more? YES because he probably doesnt have a wing mirror anymore... christ knows what speed he was doing (we were doing about 25ish as we were approaching a bloody steep hill) but it was high enough that he couldnt take the corner without driving in the middle of the bloody road...

first thought was "that aint gonna fit..." and as i had absolutely no chance of stopping etc, swerving up the kerb it was. "that still aint gonna fit....." CRACK there goes his wing mirror, and now ours is cracked. few inches more and he'd have parked in the side of our bumper instead. needless to say my road rage kicked right in. slammed the anchors on and nailed after him... first time i've seen/heard/known of a 110 spin wheels in reverse.

he wasnt slowing down for anyone though.. by the time i'd got it turned around he'd gone down one of two roads off a fork... fortunately i chose the wrong one and couldnt find him otherwise i'd be short of a crowbar, which would have been nicely rooted into the side of his van.

some explicit phrases later and we set off again. pretty uneventful on the rest of the way back though, except for our exhause coming unclamped from the downpipe again, which couldnt have happened at a more perfect time - nailing past a "well sorted" chav packed escort on the byway just up the road from our house.

put my foot down to pass them and that must have pushed it off. sounded (still does, not fixed it yet!) like a tank.. its great. their faces? a picture... more like 8 pictures actually... the car was virtually dragging its arse up the road with the weight of the "crew" in the back. hilarious...

so other than that amusing 15 seconds... bloody great!!! off to matty's again tomorrow to see if he can hunt out a mirror for us!

does anyone else get [!Expletive Deleted!] off this much on a regular basis!? or should i see someone? :?

rant off.............

Keep thinking happy thought's when driving....Sod it yes i agree there does seem to be to many moron's on the road coming back from sandringham at the weekend with the caravan on the back the wind is almost hurricane and i am taking me time there's the usual motorbikes on a mission one went the other way at 100mph+ and i'am thinking hope the wind doesn't gust or your in me Landy!!! then why is it when your going down duel carrageways approaching slip roads you have people on the outside of you and people coming down the slip road, now they can boot it and get in front of you easy but prefer to sit level with you then get irrate because you don't let them out   where do they expect you to disapeer to??? it happened twice..Oh well rant over 8)

no you are not alone in the whole angry driver thing, i consider myself to be a considerate defensive driver... even moreso with a 4x4 as we get a bad enough rap anyhow..
i always get irate with people cutting me up and not indicting etc, also another one is why do people get upset when a 4x4 passes them - i go past a car and they try thier hardest to get past you in the most inappropiate place... etc etc etc
i could go on but the women is ringing the dinner bell.

You wanna try driving an HGV for a day - numpties in the middle lane doing 50mph - who give YOU abuse when you try and move them over.. or who decide 2/3rds of the way past a junction that they actually NEED that junction - and dont care whats in their way....
or the plonker doing 52 in the 'slow' lane that suddenly accelerates to 70 when you try and pass them - only to slow down again a mile uop the road!!
Or my personal favourite - the Chav who thinks that HIS corsa/nova/106/saxo rust bucket is going to win in a contest to see who will let him in when hes in the cross hatching or when he suddennly realises that the roadworks signs and lane closed signs that have been flashing for the last 3 miles actualy mean it!!!!!!
Lost count of the number of mirrors I have 'scalped' in the last few years by people trying to barge in!!

its tired, but works fine... knackered synchro on 2nd and a bit of wear! i dont "complain" about it, it just needs some new parts throwing in :P or a replacement... whichever comes first. its stood up well to 178k-ish AND my driving pretty well, which to be fair is pretty harsh on it sometimes.

people dont like us passing them without a caravan iain, nevermind with one! you're right too... always try to pass you again in the most awkward place. i just pass them again ;) winds them right up.

im a considerate driver too... i wouldnt say defensive as such... actually i wouldnt say defensive at all........ but i do make a point of considering other road users. some just deserve to be ignored though!

on the subject of not indicating, we followed a police estate the other day at about 25ish mph down EVERY road including the 50mph straights, and he didnt indicate on a single corner or island. really makes you feel stupid that!

Just think how *%£#*!* off you'd be if this happened to you in a Micra.

The other week I moved a car for DiscoMummy and on the way back some tool in a minubus decided he wanted my lane, and the best way to get it was to bully me (in a Range Rover) and generaly threaten my nice shiny paintwork.

As I had a car trailer on, which I recon he hadn't seen i couldn't move overm there was a car alongside the trailer, so I shot forewards, to whicj he resonded by nipping in behind.

Well he'd threatened my pride and joy, so I swipped him good and hard with the trailer once he'd hit it.

When we got out to swap details I think his mood chaged a lot, when he realised I was just as yall without the Range Rover underneath me.

But as I always say, compulsory retesting, it's got to happen sooner or latter.

Couldn't agree more...I have found a solution though...
Drive a battered 110 with good tree sliders, winch bumper & large tyres...then...here's the easiest bit...drive like they do  they soon get the message...I have a nice Black Audi A4 Estate scratch on the N/S/R corner that makes me chuckle...but that's another story!!
Oh...the tree sliders are excellent for car parks when someone decides there door need to be opened as hard as it can against yours.
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

The other week on my way back from Abergavenny I had the pleasure of witnessing the wonderful driving of a couple of police officers. Due to it being dark at the time, didn't realise at first they were police. Making my way down the road at 60mph(ish... oops) I notice a car right up my backside. Coming onto an extremely short straight they boot it, and fly past. Turns out to be a dark coloured Volvo estate with cages in the back and enough aerials on the roof to make NASA proud, quite obviously an "unmarked" car. Then I notice another car behind, which again at the earliest opportunity flies past, this time it's one of the proper dayglo jobs.

Did consider the option of ringing the local station and reporting the driving, but then had a vision in my head of the resulting discussion on the radios...

Control: We've just recieved a complaint from a driver you overtook, quite clearly breaking the speed limit.

Car1: Ok, we're sorry, won't happen again.

Car2: The only vehicle we've passed recently was that Discovery...

Car1: Right, well we'll just pull over and wait for him to thank him for his concern!

Decided not to bother :P

yeah probably not a bad idea! we had a similar thing happen to us a while back... marked police car caning it down a silent (other than us) dual carriageway road at about 3am.... stopped for red lights, then nailed it again. must have been doing 100+

If they don't have blues on then they shouldn't be breaking speed limits etc (says me who may have been a fraction over the limit). If they wanted me to know they were on urgent police business, and give me the opportunity to get out of the way, then they'd have put the lights on. There was nothing ahead of me, the roads were dead. Think it was more a case of killing some boredom by having a race back to the station.

Plus there was nothing in any of the local rags, and these are the papers that tend to have stories with headlines like "Welcome mat stolen from Spar".

Funny you should say that.  I was driving Blue to the unit a good while back now and towing the Rapier Missile trailer too.  Some moron in a black golf GiT was alongside the trialer and to my right.  When he realilsed I wasn't taking the left turn off the roundabout, but staying in the lane (correctly marked for where I was going) towards Magna he decided to race round my front and cut me up, rather than drop back and go behind.

Like I'm going to haul up nearly 4 tonnes just because he's [!Expletive Deleted!] off at me for being in the right lane.

Well we didn't feel anything, didn't hear anything

But I guessed I'd hit him when he started going sideways :(biglaugh):

My first words to him were

"couldn't you see me or something, isn't it big enough"

What really made my day though was that he was adamant (go on, white line accross his nose) that it was my fault.  I pointed out that he had crossed not one but two white line markers in the road but no, he was adamant.

Didn't tell him what I do for a living.

So he insists he's making an insurance claim, takes down my reg number and asked for my address.

Then I said I needed his contact details, so he wrote them on the other half of the paper.

Folded it neatly in half and then tore it along the fold (very anal I thought).

Handed me my name and address and stormed off in a cloud of smoke.

Well, I already know who I am, and where I live.
