ZF Auto gearbox interchangability

I have heard a rumor that a ZF auto fitted to a V8 is different to one fitted to a TDI, apparently they have different change up points ? Is that true ? and how do you tell the difference between them ?

obvious thing would be one has a V8 upfront the other would be a oil burner,

V8 one would have the starter on the drivers side & the TDi on the pas side,

the boxes arent interchangeable as the valving is different to cope with the lower revs of the tdi

Yeap, having driven both, they both work well in their respective homes, though I was surprised to see the TDI rev to over 4K when I stamped on it.

That said the LSE pulls 5 and a bit
