Ok so we all know road tax for our lovely monsters is going to go up What I want to know is how can we make ourselves heard. Does anyone know of any petitions that are going on or even rolling road blocks. Of course its not just us that are going to be affected, people of trade and industries all over the UK will be affected, ESP FARMERS in there hard working motors. So why should we pay more for our motors when sports cars accross the country are not going to be affected? Any ideas please.

I have posted a poll on my forum page below ALSO can you give me any good ideas in ways we can stop this from happening its about time we started to sort this goverment out

thats the 'JOYS' (?) of living in this great country - you are going to have to pay to live here - and its getting more and more expensive to do so ........at the end of the day we could all drive Prius's.....but then again wheres the fun in that - I have 4 kids and a large caravan - so although I dont get the disco as dirtty as i'd like its the best 'family car' solution- theres no way im putting my kids an a renault e-spak....so a discovery is my favoured option..we also have a small <1.5cc car for the smaller trips too!

Its not a case of i'm alright Jack but at the moment its not going to affect most of us. Sorry if it affects you.

I think the taxation in this country is getting pretty daft and i hope that noone fell for the 2p cut you'll be better off ploy! I love this country and cant see me ever living anywhere else so i guess its just the price i have to pay.

My mate, who comes on here but i wont name him, works for a Toyota dealer and loves the prius. Well i say he loves it but he may just be winding me up.
It doesnt do what it says on the tin. It is less economical than most mid sized diesels and slower so where is the benefit to the environment? The reality of the prius is that it is driven by people who have a need to feel SMUG!
They arent really helping the world but they feel the need to say something....personally i would give anyone who owns one a very wide berth. Smug gits!! plus if you take into account the dust to dust report they are far worse!

So those of you on low incomes have missed the biggest tax hike.
I can hack the fiver a year for my road tax. Yes I do agree that we pay too much.

You see we loose £25 a week in income tax now that the lowest rate has been abolished. Nobody seems to have noticed that bit.

sports cars are affected too - it's based on emissions, not how many wheels are driven.

most sports car owners actually agree with the 4x4 argument - we should all be free to drive whatever we want.

anyway, i'm screwed either way - i drive a four wheel drive sports car.

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

This is double edged for me, you see I sell smart cars as a specialist and interest has increased since the budget, but again people miss the best cars and head straight for the Prius..... a smart diesel is 800cc turbo charged, I run one as my daily driver, it does about 380 miles per tank, oh a tank is 20 litres, thats 380 miles driven as you would normally drive, to work I can if luck hit 65 mph before the traffic stops again!

Oh did I mention that the Road Fund is FREE..... Zero...... Nil.... Nada

We have signed up for a Daihatsu franchise too...... Daihatsu is now 51% Toyota and the products are built side by side in Japan by Toyota, the new Charade is rumoured to fall into the Zero RFL Bracket too and costs just £6490 New with 3 years warranty (unlimited miles) for that money you get AIR CON, electric mirrors, electric windows and power steering..... the MPG figures are late 50's.

Who is shouting about these cars (apartg from me?)

Don't get me wrong, see the sig, I am not a greeny, I have a Fourtrack for playing, a Zuke for the same, a Passat for towing the caravan and overall my road tax liability has risen £25 this year.

I have a Passat TDi Sport Estate, Its Automatic and the RFL for 2007/8 will cost me £ 205.00

At work I have for sale a Passat TDi Sport Estate, Manual, Its RFL For 2007/8 Will Cost Someone £ 140.00

THATS £65 A YEAR BECAUSE THE ECU CHANGES MY GEARS [Edited]!!!
Same Car, Same Engine, Same Size, Same, Same, Same..... Just Auto Vs Manual..... How Is That A GREEN Tax.....

I went into a Mercedes dealer last year to enquire about the Smart diesel and was told they are not made for or sold in this country???? Is this no longer the case?

It’s quite astonishing the number of people that have said to me “suppose you’ll be selling your motor then. With the tax going up to £400”

Bearing in mind it’s a 99 Disco.

There is no wonder that the masses have been convinced of all the negative thing said about 4x4s in recent years.

I've done my 8 year stint at MB Main Dealer's.......

The Current CDi (Oil Burner) And The New (451) Smart Fortwo (AFAIK) Are Only Available Left Hand Drive, We Are A Specialist, That Means We Want To Sell Smarts, As Opposed To Being Told That We Have To Sell Them.....

CDi's Are Only Available LHD, We Import, Change The Lamps (Headlamps & Tail Lamps) And Sell CDi's, I Currently Only Have One, A 43k kms Passion Cabrio, But I Have Circa 35 Smart In Stock!

Smart Refuse To Comment On The New Smart Fortwo (451) Beig Available RHD, I have £50 Saying NOT! But It Really Doesn't Matter, Drive One And Find Out! With A 15 Minute Software Adaption A CDi Fortwo Will Hit 110mph

Diesel's Hold Their Money Better Too! They Are Genuinely Superb, Anyone That Commutes Should Try One, Why Pay Tony's Crew More Than You Have To!

Dont talk to me about road tax !
All three of ours run out end of this month (well that was good planning )
V8 pick up - £180
V8 P38     - £180
200tdi 90 - £175
Just did them all online - £535.00
Could be worse I suppose - the newest one is a 1996 so no huge hikes in the rates
The nice part of living in a small town is that when I don't know what I am doing, someone else does

I was asked "You still have your 4x4 then?" the other day.
I said "Why?"
He replied "This 4x4 Tax"
I said "Which 4x4 Tax? I thought it was a Tax on engine size/emissions"
I added "It's only gone up by £5, shame yours has gone up by £15"
You should have seen his face.

Over here in Ireland we are paying the equivalent of about £750 for a 2.5TD landy as it's done on engine size   . The way round it is to tax it as a commercial but that means no rear seats and van sides but brings the cost down to what you are paying in the UK at the moment. Down side is that you then have to run a second car if you want to take passengers anywhere...... although two kids fit nicely on the roofrack!!

..... but before Mr Brown sees this and thinks he's missing a trick   , our petrol is about 30% cheaper and so I reckon it's swings and roundabouts

Yes it seems that some  people out there dont really know what it means, I was filling the disco up yesterday and there was a 200tdi next to me, the guy was admiring the my motor, and then was saying he may have to get rid of the motor as the new car tax rate was stupid, after a couple of minutes explaining what it meant to him with the old motor, he went away a happy man
