5 grand should get you a nice tidy 200/300 tdi, likely with extra toys ;) milage varies, and could be between 110k-150k? just have to look around and see

5k & you can have my 200tdi 90 as it stands with the toys on

in standard cars thats an early Td5 or a late 300 in reasonable nick

watch the 300's as they rot like feck in the rear Xmember & bottoms o the chassis

Depending on budget i would disregard the old TD it is nowhere near as good as the TDi........

That's because most have blown up by now.   The TD is a good engine when maintained, but horribly behind the market at the time it was being used.  The early ones blew up because of poor selection of parts fitted while the later ones if abused would go pop.

In short, they're an alright engine but very temperamental.

I think the TD has got a bad rep in the past, The TD is a good engine, but needs looking after properly. People dont do it and they break. If anything they waer on the bores more than they actually blow up.

Besides 5k should get you a half decent 300tdi

So buy a stock one and do it up slowly like most folk do.  Thats half the fun.  Shove some 7.50 or bigger tyres on and it will do most things anyway.......
