Tony Mason is actually a really nice guy. My business partners father (Arthur Senior) started the Morecambe car club with Tony way back when.

I started building a Riley 1.5 for historic rallying and it is now used by Arthur. Tony was the co-driver in it first time out at the Illuminations Rally a few years ago.

Arthur drove with the Reliant works team on the 1964 Alpine Rally. He has the claim to fame of falling off an Alp in a Reliant Sabre

dont get me wrong i didnt say he wasn't a nice guy. i just dont like his style of presenting and maybe the show would benefit from someone who was involved in the scene and seemed to know more about the subject.

He may know loads about it but it doesnt come through in the way he presents

Do you remember the Alan Partridge item in The Day Today about the female rally driver?  Tony Mason through and through.  I even put that on the Wiki page, but it was edited out because I couldn't prove it...

I wasn't suggesting any different. Sorry if I sounded like I was!

I can fully understand where you are coming from. He's what might be called 'old school' presentation

Is that what they use in PCT's? I always thought it was on private land but it's a long time since I had any involvement and even then it was only a couple of events.

It's a mixture of both, but in that particular episode they're on 'the public highway'

I think it was an episode featuring Classic Trialling where the green lane issue came up.  Events such as the lands End trial and the Exeter trial.

i must agree, i dont know who the guy is, and i think the show would bennifit if it had a presenter that was a bit more in touch, and dare i say a bit younger.
he just seems like some silly old man who is reading a scrip but has no real passion for the sport. (iam sure he is a nice man tho :D )

Quite like Tony Masons style - its got that element of naivity (spelling) about him that apeals to those who maybe dont know a great deal about the sport.

ps. I'm not as young as I used to be!
