How can i idetify a HIF44 carb from other SU carb if i get over to the scrapies and find a metro 1.3 how do i know what sort of SU it has got by looking at it. or will any 1.3 SU carb do.

hello mate, i brought an su carb the other week from a mini specialist. came off a 1.3 mini. make sure you get a carb off a austin metro, not a rover. the rover ones are different, ive heard there rubbish (thats why the emmissions on metros are so high).

measure the inlet bore.1"3/4 is 44mm hif 44 1"1/2 is 38mm hif38 as easy as that. and yes the webber is crap off road. :cry:

But you have to measure the manifold side of the carb. The filter side is larger.

H Reg (SU) Sami. 410 t case Rascal lift with rears up front, Snorkel & Breathers , Disks all round, roll cage & harnesses, 31" muds & HARIBO paint job (thats what happens when you let your boys 4&7 loose with the paint)
