D-DAY!! Mot time.

Will my car fail on the mot if my lpg system isnt working? Im just fearing the emissions will be sky high asi heard they change the set up so that it runs better for lpg?

Any advice?

Note from the picture you have a facelifted Disco so it should have cats fitted so I wouldn't have thought you would have a problem.  I think the only thing that is done is the timing is altered so you could check the timing before putting it in.

Why doesn't the LPG work ?

It stopped working a while ago for no apparent reason. As the weeks went by it starting smelling of gas occasionally. Then one day it dumped its gas load onto my parents new drive! Wooooooooosssssshhhhhhhh!!!

Before i thought it was an electrical issue, so i looked for BRC fitters/repairers near me but noone did my particular system unless you live in devon or somewhere else. But now that its dumped its load i think its mechanical and is the safety or pressure release valves???

So this way i could get it fixed at at someone more local as i think all it needs is a pair of new valves for each tank.

What do you think?

They have an emergency release valve which is supposed to vent the tank in the event of a fire rather than letting the tank explode but I am not sure it releases quick enough to go woosh, or woooooooooosh even.  The system I had on my old v8 stopped working but it was a case of not being able to fill it.  If you have a word with autoogas2000 on ebay link here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/id=102186025&ssPageName=STRK:MEFS:MESST
I reckon he will be able to sort out a new tank valve,  they arnt difficult to fit, hardest part is dropping the tank and seeing as yours is more or less empty anyway you shouldn't have a problem.

I removed mine and disconnected it (it should have stop taps fitted) I then put it in the back garden and opened the outlet valve slowly and it vented the remaining gas in about 2 hours.  changed the valve refitted it and it all worked.  Its worth doing, a valve will set you back about £50 tops and running on LPG for a few days will more than pay for it.

Car failed cos i chopped off the last silencer and he said that the exhaust fumes werent escaping properly and could be a fire hazard!  :shock:

But it past with flying colours other than that...well apart from an indicator of needing discs and pads!

I suspect yo uhave a pipe burst rather than a valve problem.  ANY leak is meant to exit via the conduit that the pipework runs in so that it vents to atmosphere.
