That is definitely the new Freelander 2 there!  Rebadged it is.   Of course, wait for the Americans to come spouting rubbish that they make the best off-road capable vehicles in the world and that they're made by Ford when they're Ford badged Land Rovers.

Nope, totally different vehicle. Honest.

Back when LR were developing the Freebie 2 they were instructed to use the Escape platform but after initial testing LR stated that the Escape had insufficient off-road capability, and another more appropriate platform was choosen - the Mondeo.   Ya couldn't make this stuff up!

The Freebie would also be too expensive to build in Escape volumes.

I'll grant you, the outward similarities are quite alarming, but the underpinnings are very different.

Cheers

Like a moon roof, but for lazy people!

Electric sunroof, basically. The Americans will run aircon and keep the car closed up when the sun is out, so the hole in the roof gets opened when it's dark - hence the name. Like I said - you couldn't make this stuff up!

Jag X-Type?

Funny how things go full circle, once upon a time most fords were based on the MkI Cortina too.
