Some one on the series II club forum has done this with a series II.

There is very little difference between the bodies of a Series II & Defender.  In fact some parts are exactly the same.

Have a scout round there forum.

Or even this

I'm not sure if you need to join there forum to view posts.
If you PM me with your details I will pass them on the guy who did this.

I'm the one who built a Doublecab 2a the hard way, I started with a 109 Pickup.

As you have a SW already its easy, all you need is a roof, truck cab rear window, Cappings from a pickup to give the curve and mounting for the rear window, tailgate and a bulkhead to fit behind the rear seats. A Weekends work if you have all the bits and a couple of blokes.

Remove the roof complete, the rear sides and the rear door, the cappings will deicide where the bulkhead fits, then you have the position, its just a case of rivets and a bit of jiggling about to make sure it all lines up.

Use sealant to prevent water getting through the seams and paint it. After that its just a case of bolting the rear window on, and the roof.

If you need any more info just ask and I'll try to help. I turned this...

Into this, has a 3/4 canvas on now but you get the idea..

  WOW..

That looks mint!!  It's the bulkhead part I'm struggling with, the rear cab with windows not a problem, neither is the roof, I plan on cutting my original roof to mate up with a normal cab rear. Can't a bulkhead be fabricated as I can't find one anywhere!!

If I can make half as good a job as you have done to yours I'll be a happy man. Nice one!!   8)

If any one has a few mins to spare could you look on e-bay item no. 260047550899 and tell me if this rear tub will fit my 110 for the conversion?? I don't mind the extra work tidying the tub, just want to know if it will go on ok.

Cheers..

Nope.. to start with a 90 tub is longer than a 110 tub   - and the wheel arches are in the wrong place... and they are asking way too much!!

However, you could have it to cut the bulkhead out of (carefully) - and you could also remove the cappings and shorten them as needed... and fit both to your existing rear tub.

This would give you the required rear bulkhead
All you need then is a 90 truck cab roof to modify... or spend a bit more and buy a proper crew cab roof panel.

Cheers Ian, it was a long shot! What about a rear tub from a double cab defender 2005 model? He wanted £250 for that but trying to lower the price!

Thanks.

The rear tub from a double cab will fit....  Ã‚£250 isn't that bad.
Does that come with the 'B' pillars still attached??

Just means you've got the cost of respraying it.

But will fit....

I'd be tempted to see if he has the roof panel too... with headlining... but these usually aren't cheap!!

I believe it does, he's taken the rear tub off cos he's doing a camper conversion! Just waitin for him to e-mail back to see if he will go lower, worth askin!! Failing that i'm going to buy a bloody push bike. LOL.

Theres no dents or scrapes on it and it's in excellent condition, just keep having a look on e-bay to see if theres a cheaper option. I'l wait and see if my cheek pays off.

P.s  If it does there will be more questions! lol.

Cheers Ian.

Right, Will a rear tub from a 130 fit my 110? Got a feeling it won't but if any one can verify this for me I'd appreciate it. Got a bloke who has 2 brand new ones and e-mailing in a bit with a price!

Cheers.

Don't think it will....

And will still need a seperate bulkhead.  A 130 should be a HCPU rear body type which is seperate from the main body of the Land Rover.

So you will still need a bulkhead to finish off behind your rear seats (if that makes sense)

Surely you just want a 110" double cab rear tub??

Or buy a cheap 90 tub and carefully cut out the rear bulkhead and remove the cappings...  fit the bulkhead into your existing tub along with the modified cappings and away you go....  not as easy as just buying a double cab tub though.
