98 2door?
« on: April 06, 2007, 23:29:49 »
I've been lucky enough to come into a little money, so i'm off to look at a discovery to replace my ageing Jeep on monday.

I've heard about this vehicle by WOM and I have some questions for those more knowlegable than myself.

First off it supposed to be a black 2 door, did landrover make a 2 door after the early 90s? I don't recall seeing anything after about a 94 plate, also it has the landrover logo printed allover the interior. a special edition perhaps?

Second is it's 3.9 with manual box, apparently it's got about 105k on the clock. is there going to be much life left in the clutch etc?

I also have issues with the reliability of the old V8s as it's not uncommon to hear of porous blocks, shiffted liners and blown head gaskets. I have to say it's a far cry from the 4.0 jeep lump which is known for being just about unbreakable. Am I correct in thinking that as the engines have got larger capacities they have got less reliable due to cylinder wall thickness or lack of?

Thanks for bearing with me,

Right then, I'm going to be collecting her next saturday :D . She's a 98 2 door with a 3.9 v8 and 7 seats, finshed in niagra grey with a tundra interior.

I think I scared the dealer a bit, I gave him a whole list of things I want doing,

Power steering fluid low,
Engine needs serivce,
new OSF tyre,
rear pinoin seal,
rear discs and pads,
gearlever centralising spring,
drivers seat fold mechinism needs sorting,
pair of new headlight lenses,
diff lock won't engage,
and floppy sunvisors

Also manged to knock him down on the screen price from 4350 to 4100.

So do you think I done well?

BTW I forgot photos
