idle problems

1988 3.5 V8 EFi Auto

when cold, if i put my foot on the brake pedal the engine splutters and dies. doesnt matter what gear the auto box is in.

any ideas?

doesnt seem to do it once its warmed up

Vacuum servo perhaps.
