300Tdi Pinion Seals
« on: April 08, 2007, 22:57:05 »
A quick question for those with "the knowledge". I've just noticed the rear diff pinion seal is weeping on my 300Tdi. I have a new seal ready to go in, bought for the front, I assume they're the same?
The questions are: What size socket do I need for the drive flange?
Is it just a case of undoing the flange, levering out the old seal, putting in the new and doing up to a specified torque?
Do I have to get involved in shims and preloads on the pinions gears?

Thanks for your help guys
