Do I or Dont I??
« on: April 09, 2007, 18:18:13 »
this is a sort of follow up / re-post!
As many of you know I have a 2004 Suzuki Bandit 600..Now - the problem I have is that I thought that I'd had the finance over 3 years - and even my GAP cover supports this - BUT according to the Finance company BLACK HORSE its over 4 years..so I am paying £160 a month for a bike that get very little use (under 6000 miles since November 2004)..so I enquired about 'giving' the bike back to the fiance company as I'd paid over 1/2 the term...They then wanted Nearly £700 for me to return the bike - and also stated that It could harm my credit rating!¬!!!
SO - My Dilemma is I have a bike I cant really afford - but I cant afford the £700 to 'Give' the bike away to the finance company - Oh and they also want me to deliver it to London!!!!!!!!! ( nearest Depot apparently) or they will collect for £100
So has anyone else had the misfortune to return somethibng on finance? and I really need to sort this out 1 way or another.....short of some light fingered person having it away!!!
not that I havent given that a thought too - (apologies to all Boys in blue reading this - or should that be NOT reading this)
catch 22 - cant afford to keep - and cant afford to get rid.  :?

I'd have thought if it got nicked, you'd get another one from the insurance company;  it wouldn't affect the finance deal at all, as should be quite separate.

well as its over 12 months old - the automatic replacement has gone - so in effect with my GAP cover making up any shortfall - the finance would be paid off -leaving me in effect bikeless - but also 100% clear of the debt!

I know of a few dodgy people that are always trying to steal motorcycles....NOT that I'd ever venture around those parts without my disklock - unless It happens to fall from my coat pocket

if it does happen to disapear make absolutely sure that you have read your insurance policy first- its amazing the lengths insurance companies will go to to avoid paying out. read all the small print regarding locks, alarms and any parking restrictions well first! oh and they will probably ask you to supply them with all the keys!!!
Theres no such thing as the wrong sort of mud!

AND proof of the alarm that you should have fitted.  My stepson had his Fireblade stolen and guess what? He hadn't gotten around to getting an alarm/immobiliser fitted. BIg problems with the insurance company. Fortunately, the garage said that it was booked in for it to be fitted and the insurance payed off the finance
