Who is he? I reckognise the name. Also were his daughters a rally car driver team?

simmonites are a landy parts etc dealer and his daughters used to drive rally cars etc, hill rallys and the like, they have ads in the landy mags as well

Dave Simmonite.

Where to begin?

Dave was one of the great pioneers of 4x4 racing. Sure, he didn't start it, but the likes of Dave, Mike Wolfe, Trevor Milner, Bruce Tigwell and Alvin Smith made competitive safari the spectacle it is today. Not only was Dave fiercely competitive, but he also enjoyed a laugh. People thought he was having one when he built his first 'Simmbughini'. A car that after more than 20 years, can still will National, and International events. His spirit was handed to his wife and daughters who all took up the racing mantle. The Simmonite Sisters have now probably surpassed even their fathers competitive record.

Dave was also instrumental in the development of the Hillrally. He encouraged new people into the sport, he encouraged experienced hands to win.

Dave Simmonite: Competitor, business man, engineer, proud father. Hero.

Our thoughts go to his family and friends.

Blimey, some names there from the past that I recognise from my safari racing days gone by, I remember the girls from the AWDC events.
I know Wolfie died a couple of years back and John Cousins a year back or two.......Makes you think..

My condolences with the greatest of respect to his family and friends.
