Corroded Front Body Mounts
« on: April 11, 2007, 16:25:02 »
Hi

My 1991 disco passed its last Mot with an advisory that the front body mounts were corroded.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has had a similar problem and how you went about repairing them.

If you have any pics It would be great, I was wondering whether I should make up a new section and then cut out the old one and weld a new one in

Look forward to your suggestions.

Thanks

Steve

I have/had two complete headlight/battery box inner wing units cut out of a scrap disco, and replaced the whole corner from the edge of the rad/intercooler to the front turret where the shocker is, this included the front mount too, just unbolted the old mount and it cut awau with the complete wing unit, and rebolted the replacement in then lined everything up and welded the unit back in

You could do a smaller type job, depending on the state of the surrounding metal

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40
