TD5 Fails Mot
« on: April 13, 2007, 18:57:03 »
Hi guys,

Hope someone can help  :?

My dads 51 reg TD5 failed its MOT last week on emissions

We changed all the filters and filled the tank with BP ultimate and redex.

He took it for its retest after running it around for half an hour and it only just passed  :?

Any ideas?

Tris

Check the EGR is working.  If it is, unplug it, and see what difference it makes.  (Multiplug attached to little valve block just next to the coolant reservoir.)  Some people reckon the emissions are better without it.

Other than that, do what it sounds like you did anyway - slap some Redex in it, pound down the dual carriageway in third, and go straight to the test centre.

Oh and put an extra floor mat in there to keep the gas pedal out of the carpet
