Anyone fitted a sub to their defender?

Has anyone done this, where is the best place to run the power wiring?
Decided to try and drown out some road noise on the motorway!

im sticking mine in the back right behind the bulkhead. they are too big to go anywhere else  :shock:

I have my sub in a box on the back of the bulk head 1000watt 12"
my amp is attached to the bulk head behind my driver seat 600watt 4 channel
6x9's (200watt each)above the back door and speakers in the headlining... no problem drowning out the road and engine noise

where have you guys run the wiring?is there anyway of hiding it?whats the best route from the back of the bulkhead?

I ran my wires up the door piller and along the roof to the speakers and just up and over the edge of the bulkhead

I run two 12 inch subs, each with its own amp... I made a box to suit the subs that just fits snuggly between the wheel arches in the back.. and i have the amps behind the drivers and passenger seat, out of harms way you see.. And that way you dont have to worry about getting power/rca/remote wires through the bulkhead... And just run the wires to the subs over the bulkhead where it meets the bodywork. The reason i do that is so that i can pull the wires out of the way easily when i take the sub box out..

Ask JD LWB, he's got a Sub at the back of The Tank.

The only problem is that mine's a 110 (a lot more room in the back) and a CSW (lots more places to hide wires).

It does the job though (I've got a pair of 6"X9"s to go in too, I just need to make up a pair of mounting boxes for them).

I dont know why but the thought of a sub in a defender seems er...daft!

It reminds me of the advert on telly (mcdonalds?) with the bloke in the back of his mates van banging on the sides to make "sub" noises  :lol:

Turn it up and bye bye engine/road/etc noise, hello music.

I'm putting a pair of 6"X9"s in to compliment it though (not enough middle and treble) and I've uprated the front speakers.

i've always had subs in my vehicles, just because its a sub doesnt mean you have to have it booming with no discernable treble like the local boy racer!
They can sound great and allow the other speakers to concentrate on the high notes.

Ive spent a lot of time in Faslane workin on Subs and their reactors but Im [!Expletive Deleted!] if I know how to fit one in my Landy..... several hundred tonnes and a nuclear reactor.....its slow enough as it is.... :)

Landrover actually make a sub box for defenders.. Well the NAS spec ones anyway.. its part number is RTC7793

Couldn't agree more! I like my music and good quality is important. Sub's just help produce that effect!  

I opted to run my power cables in a plastic case along the top of the chassis rail as you have a bit of distance to cover on a 110.  Everything's mounted high as possible to help keep it dry. Unfortunetly having a crew cab space is an issue so the sub has to sit on the floor in front of the center rear seat. Dispite going for a float once or twice a year it seems to have carried on working!
