Well had a phone call today from a friend asking for a bit of help, The result of which is I now have a 2 1/2 year old Rottweiller bitch as a tempory ( maybe permanant) guest!!
Just been and brought her back as the original owner is homeless at the moment due to his partner being a complete unmentionable and kicking him out of HIS house, so at the moment he is living in his Truck - which Is why I have his Dog.
So what can I expect from this breed? Seems friendly enough - and travels well - thank god as our last 2 dogs were both travel sick!!

Rotties can be massively different in personality, even though they all look the same. For example, some of the ones used as guard dogs are as vicious as you see on the news, while some, such as my own, can be very lazy, quite dim, and easily entertained. You'll have to work it out by simply spending some time playing with and getting to know the dog/bitch.
Cheers, Paul. :D

Lovely dogs, if brought up right, same as any dog. When I were a kid my childminder had 'em and bred them. Usually had at least 6 adult rottweillers, plus any recent pups. They'd let a burglar walk around, only thing they'd do is lick 'em to death.

Spend lots of time with her and show her who's boss (in a good way). She's still young so should learn to trust you and all will be ok.
DOgs need to know their place, if you are a strong pack leader then they will be happier.
Your problem then comes when it's time to give her back

Cute!
I'd love to have a dog, but with both of us out at work all day, it would so unfair on the dog.

If it was'nt out side on a chain and allowed to bark at evey one it should be fine. Its not the breed its the owner that makes a dogs personality .I own a staffie and most people give her a wide birth why i don't know as she sacred of her own shadow. If you love that dog and treat it with respect you will get it back.
Looks like a lovely dog

A friend's got a Rottie/Lab cross, a lovely dog and a real cuddle-bucket. She's got her problems but she was badly abused before my friends got her. Oh, and she's the biggest lesbian going!

I used to go to dog training sessions, the trainer there reckoned they could be great dogs... so long as they knew you were boss.
A case of being firm and fair and giving lots of affection - not so different from any other dog...
Oh, and as with any 'rescued' dog (no matter breed or the size or the supposed temperament), never leave them on their own with children. But you knew that anyway.

This little one is 1/4 Rotty and the rest Dogue de Bordeaux :(biglove): and she's giving us some real good fun at the moment. She thinks she's gaffa, but she's learning who wears the trousers in our house............... Mrs J
Her 7 month old brother is quite impressive in size and his head is massive, but what a gentle giant. It's all down to the dogs training to how it behaves and if it goes wrong there's doggy behaviouralists (a dog shrink   )

Couldnt agree more, a dogs personality depends largely on its upbringing and the dog knowing its place in the pecking order 'firm but fair', the only thing I've ever noticed with rotties is females can get very possesive of a favourite chew/toy/bone etc but will give plenty of warning if its not a game...

That's not just Rotties, our sheppardsa are the same. Bracken still thiks she is boss, anbd all the toys are
hers
.
Max takes them knowing full well that it may start a rumble, but that's part of the game.
Our dogs know the difference between adults and children, most dogs do once they become adults themselves. It's when they are puppies they can be too boistrous even if they don't mean to.
