How difficult would it be to retro fit air con to a 1988 range rover?

Dash out, rewire as it connects to the ignition, EFi etc.  Fit the pipewrok, change the valve to suite modern refrigerant and get it refilled.

The start paying even more for petrol.

Or wind the windows down.

I was thinking for offroading in woodland in summer...did a fair bit in my white one with aircon last summer and it was a blessing having cool air without windows open/millions of flies coming in...

I suppose it's one of those things you can't live withou once you have it.  For me the extra heat under the hood when you aren't moving very fast would put me off, the floor gets damn hot already from the exhaust, sticking a hot rad in the way of the air cooling system would concern me.
