Safari snorkel and external cage?
« on: April 23, 2007, 12:21:03 »
Hi all,

Just looking into fitting an external roll cage and it looks like I will need to relocate my Safari snorkel forward and upwards, slightly, or get a different snorkel.

I've noticed a few 90s with external cages and snorkels - but are any of these Safari ones?

Any advice welcome!

Cheers

Thanks Alex but (a) I want to stick with the Safari one if I can and (b) Jon's is for a 300 or TD5, not a 200 - so it runs up the wrong side of the vehicle!

One of the well known manufacturers of cages (can't think of their name at the moment but I will have a look through the magazines) manufactures an adapter to move the Safari Snorkle further forwards & upwards, I think it is actually not much more than a blanking plate and pattern for re-drilling the holes but as long as you don't mind the look it works well enough.

I was looking it to this a while back, and if my memory serves me correct, i believe Protection and Performance have relocation plates to move the snorkel without drilling/cutting etc as for price, no idea.

Cheers guys - I'll look into that. Probably find that the P&P plate is the same price as the Whitbread cage tho!!!! Might have to see if I can make something similar myself (re the plate, not the cage, that is).

Jon - your cunning plan re 7S looks like a go-er... more on this soon...

i have fitted a roll cage and we used a safari snorkel but moved a couple of inches forward and it works fine  but we did fit a 2 inch tube running down snorkal due to problems sealing the snorkal when going in water
