Advice needed quick please

I have just found a Jap re import P plate. Its the right colour and has 96000 on the clock. It is immaculate inside and out. Japan has 50 mph speed limit and they don't need to salt the roads so its not been dogged and has never seen any salt. This thing looks lovley. Its a bit older than I was going to go for but it has Air con, cruise control and loads of toys fitted. Its an automatic which I can live with. There doesn't seem to be a bit of rust anywhere. Full landrover service history and certificated mileage from the Jap dealer.

The price its up for £4995 and I have negotiated so far for £4795.  Does this sound like a good one or what?.

So you think its a good one. I am awaiting some more info on it at the momnet. HPI is all clear. I've been thinking about it and if I spend £10,000 on something even newer its going to get wrecked with fishing gear and tree lined lakes etc. If this is good then maybe better to go for it and treat her as best I can. Should do me for another 10 years if I look after her.

That sort of money is £500 more than the book price for good dealer according to parkers.  Obviously there are benefits you've outlined, however I'd want at least FSH and a warranty thrown in for that sort of money if at all possible.

It may be a great buy, but you never know what might happen in 500 miles time.

It doesn't sound bad but it doesn't sound like a bite-your-arm-off bargain to me.

I have an old LRO with an article about Jap reimports; according to that they do fetch a very good premium basically because of the reasons that you said.

It has full landrover service history. Having looked on Car Equality which is a specialist Landrover used Jap importer they are selling R plates for £9995. The main difference being the mileage. For that money from them its only got 40,000 on the clock and comes with a warranty.

I am not going to rush into it, but the biggest thing for me is that its totally rust free and like new. It doesn't look like its done 96 miles although 96,000.

Nice big headache now.

got my jap re-import in JAN 07 V reg, 13,000 miles, county trim (leather), auto, aircon, cruise control, etc. Checked out Parkers and added the premium on for auto and low mileage etc. came out the same price as offered. managed to talk him down by £500. under-seal it, do a full service paid £9k for it - never looked back.

Would buy jap again as you say good nick, rust free, like new.

You should probably think about an immobilizer for it (keeps the insurance happy) set you back about 80 dealer fitted for a cat 2 (original uk spec)

For £9995, I'd rather have a TD5, and money left over...I can have a Y reg TD5, in more or less mint condition for £9795...

But each to there own and it does look nice...

That doesn't mean yours is a particularly good deal, it just means that Car Equality charge the earth.

I'm with Discotel, you could get a pretty damn decent TD5 for that.

I think I am missing something here. Are you saying I could get a decent TD5 for £4500 ?.
