If anyone is looking on ebay and has a spare min or so could you please voice an opinion as to which winch I should get(cost been a factor). :?

Dont get an electric and get yourself a Tirfor instead, cheaper, more powerfull and can be used front or rear.

Got one off ebay for £120 and never let me down yet.

They guy has a point.  How much will you actually use the winch, most are really only good for show anyway.  Prices start at under £400 for the unbranded copies of more popular winches.

If you buy an electric and realy use it you may spend a lot on spares 'cos they don't have a reputation for longevity, if you catch my drift.

I would like a hydraulic but don't have the grand or so it will cost just yet, so have resorted to the high-lift winch kit.  Spend the money on tyres so yuo don't get stuck as often.

I would go for an electric.  not too complicated to fit and there are some bargains about for the unbranded stuff.

Before I had mine I thought that I would only use occasionally - Wrong! I just found that I just got myself deeper into trouble more often in the knowing that I had a winch to get myself out!
