Large bore exhausts
« on: April 27, 2007, 13:41:16 »
In the eternal quest for more power I am looking into fitting a wider bore exhaust system but before I spend the money would like to hear any thoughts or opinions on them.

Plus where to get them from, my first port of call was Jeremy Fern but he no longer makes them for the 300tdi, I thn tried twisted performance but did not really want to spend the best part of £600

Any ideas?

I had a look under the TDI to see just what ther is.

It has a flexi joint and what looks like a Cat in the front pipe

a largeish box in the middle pipe

and the tialbox on the tailpipe.

So which box(s) is it ok to remove? I'd have thought the cat but most people seem to be refering to the middle box :?

Here's my tuppence.

Unless your doing anything else with the engine, the standard Disco system is actually quite good, being a fairly large diameter anyway.

So, unless there is a compelling reason for doing so, I'd sit with the standard.

As an interesting aside, all Jaguars use 63mm tube in the exhaust. Makes you wonder.  8)

Hi it is not on website  , i rang them and sorted it out? although there is a back order on them and could take 10 days?
It was called a full stainless utility system for the 300dti? has no middle box just straight through pipe!

I am also trying to find a front pipe without cat! and have found that a 300dti defender 90 front pipe will fit part no; ESR2297 although it has no flexi part, is about £21 but only avalible in steel as yet!

You can also get a standard 300 discovery front pipe without cat but with the flexi part for about £64 in steel part no; ESR2740.

If you do a google search on these part no's; you will find them and get a very good price! but if your after a stainless front pipe as well and i find one i will let you know.

Even with the steel front pipe and the stainless utiity system i recon it should make some small preformance improvement for the price! and as my standard system has just about had it i will give it a try.

Rimmer Bros do a "Cat Back" stainless sports system for the 300TDi (no middle silencer) for £169 inc VAT.
