Sorry to be thick but I just got my '98 Vitara and assumed it would be 16v EFi, looking at the engine it looks more like a carb sitting under the air filter, how can i tell please?

well if your air filters sitting on top of the trottle housing thens its probably a carb, the efi models have the air box sitting over the n/s wheel arche. you can always take the air box off and have a look

well i would have thought so, unless someones swaped the air boxes over. the efi sometimes have EFi written on top of them too, and they have an air mass meter fixed to the induction pipe.
