Any Irish members?
« on: November 30, 2004, 13:54:57 »
I'm moving to Ireland next year (Co. Cork) and want to take my landy with me for work purposes as well as pleasure.  :D
I can find loads of stuff about importing and registering cars but nothing about commercial or farm type vehicles (other than that the road tax is cheaper if it's a commercial).
Does anyone know where I can find out about any pro's and con's or the basis of the definition of a commercial vehicle in Ireland and how this affects the requirements of the National Car Test. (I'm brickin' it cos the NCT seems very tough compared to the UK MOT and I'm not sure the Landy was that good when it was brand new let alone 15 years down the (muddy) road and I'd hate to have to leave her behind. :( )
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it ain't dirty, do something about it!!

Yeah, I know it's not white and it's not a 90 but my last one was :-)

let me know if you find out anything, I'm moving to Co Donegal next year and planning on taking at least one of my landys, definatley the 90 200tdi, will probably sell the series 3 before I go.

I know it's going to cost a fortune to register and tax, but the fuel is cheaper.

Shouldn't cost you anything to register as long as you can prove you have owned it for more than six months but, yeah, tax is a whopping £550 ish for 2.5 litres. Lots less if you register it as a commercial, hence the question.

If I suss it I'll definitely let you know 8)
