having used 2 sets of procomp es3000's in a year, they are leaking again, and the mot is due. sigh!!

i need to replace them with something more suitable for the uk climate. any ideas?

i use my paj everyday as well as offroad/laning/towing.

As were discussing Pro Compe, I've looked around their website and you seem to order based on external dimensions of the shock, which is fair enough it has to fit. But no mention is made of damping rates, is that why they are so cheap - they are all the same and no effort has been made to match to each vehicle or is the above a good pointer at why they are so cheap.

That's bad news for you.
However, I have only changed one rear set of Pro Comp ES9000 on Shed in around 5 years of various usage, with the majority being fairly heavy offroad.
I think they are really good quality for a competitive price.

You should give pro comp a ring as they are guaranteed for life........numbers here................

no i didn't get them changed for free. we had bought 2 sets, one for each paj (the es3000's on procomps advice) and when mine failed the mot after having only been on the car a short time we borrowed the other set as that paj was sitting idle at the time. now that set are leaking too, with signs of corrosion.

i wouldn't say that they have had heavy usage this year either, mostly laning, not a lot of the heavy stuff.

my feeling is that they are not good in the damp conditions in the uk.


you're right, i should call them with my story, see what they advise.

my gut feeling is to move away from the brand altogether though!

people rave over old man emu shocks and they should have an application for your as Paj are popular in OZ. I have had procomps on every truck ive had and they are very tough. Ive never had the 3000 though. The cost difference to the 9000 is minimal . I have the adjustanle ones now and they are far ebtter made.

The only shock ive had probs with is DEcarbon...but again some people love em.

If you call explorer uk they are really helpful and will defn exchange for you....i would see if you can get 9000 back in return. do you clean them when youve been offroad? Do you use gaitors?

Have you looked at iron man? i am using them so are a few others and they seem to be holding up really well. Just a little more expensive ( couple of pound more than procomp)
got mine through west coast 4x4.

mm,  ironman is one of the options i was considering.

but after comments here, i think i may as well see what procomp say. if they replace, then at least that will get me mot'd again.

but i would rather have something that is not going to give me more trouble!

i spoke to procomp, they have agreed to replace the rear shocks on both pajeros, and are sending new fixing brackets for the front. (we have cobbled them together so many times!)
