Lucky to be alive...
« on: May 10, 2007, 16:41:21 »
On Wednesday I was out with my skipper on a routine patrol when we came to a junction with a main road as we approached the junction a motorbike came gunning it passed flat out, can't be sure but I suspect over 100mph.
I commented about his speed and the fact he hadn't seen us as, I then looked to my right to see him ploughing into the back of a flat bed transit. His bike expolded into bits and he took off into the air and down the road on his arse.
We then gunned it down the road thinking the worst only to see him spring up OK. he had a massive graze on his backside and side but other than the he was fine    Lucky guy. I was already thinking this was going to be a fatality but his bike and pride were the only thing damaged.
If want to walk it walk it, if you want to ride it ride it just leave me alone to drive it!

First call I ever attended was the same thing, and he didnt bounce :(

Lucky guy, needs to go get a lottery ticket. I guess you're leaving it at that being warning enough about speeding?
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Yep... I have no idea what speed he was doing, What happened is he went for an overtake on a open strech of road and failed, think he hit a wet white line causing him to skid and loose control and then hit the transit... I think the guy learned a lesson!

Extremely lucky indeed!

He must have managed to shed some speed before actually hitting the Transit then?

He actually landed on his back pack, which was torn to shreds... it saved his life.

Did he also have a spine-protector on?

At least he (presumably) managed to remove most of his leathers, saving the A&E boys & girls the job of cutting them off

What about the poor sod in the Transit, driving along minding his own then WHALLOP, check his shorts.

Unless it was a Pikey, no sympathy with them.
