i'm still endevouring to find that compromise between Road/off road, if I remove the anti-roll bars I increase articulation but also body roll, would HD shocks help this or would twin shocks front and rear be better as i assume the shocks will dampen body roll whilst still allowing articulation, Am I thinking along the right lines, I have HD springs front and rear.

An anti roll bar is effectively a spring not a damper so I dought changing the vehicles damping will replace what you have lost by removing it.

Increasing the damping won't reduce the amount the body rolls, just make it take longer.

The easiest way to reduce body roll is to reduce the lateral forces acting on the vehicle. ie drive slower round corners.

although in theory it should nont.twin shocks helped for me in conjuction with wider wheels and a bigger wheel offset.

Definatley handles better.

The downside is the suspension is harder offroad.

but mine never had ar bars anyway.

I have recently removed my ARB's and was concerned about the handling in doing so. I have to say that i was pleasantly surprised. I did remove them at the same time as fitting +2" springs and Gas shocks, and i believe that gas shocks have built in dampers, and it is these that are making the difference.

I could be completely wrong, and it may have just been the fact that my old springs and shocks were so sh****d that the new setup is just an improvement??

What good dampers will do is improve dynamic sway.  Anyone remeber the Elk test that killed the Mercedes A class? turn left ehn right as if avoiding a deer/elk, good dampers will prevent yolu suffering the same fate.  What they won't do is stop you scrubbing the doorhandles on roundabaouts, only slowing down can do that.

Personally I have the front ARB and 2 on the back to get Blue to handle, but the front end is terribly stiff so I'm replacing the pokybushes with rubber first off, then I'm looking at disconnects for the ARBs.

I have twin rear shocks on the Disco and it does help with body roll etc.
I put them on because i carry tons of stuff in the back !!

I've got twin rear shocks on my Disco and, although it's a bit hard on the road, the sway & roll is less now than it was with ARBs fitted.
I did a fitting guide for the Workshop Section as well.  :wink:
